A Rush Quilt, Based On A Quilt In A Catalog

Someone contacted me asking if I could create a quilt based on a layette found in a catalog. Well, of course I can I said. I can't copy the design, but colors can be mimicked, the style can be followed, the general idea can be carried through.

This is the set to be used as inspiration.

The client also wanted the quilt personalized.

A Tote for A Fellow Creator.

Putting the first of 8 zippers.

I gathered up the pockets,
so they can hold a multitude of beautiful items.

Larger pockets, for more beautiful things.

I added tabs made from velvet ribbon, to make it easier to open and close the zippers.

Four pockets on one side, two larger pockets on the opposite side.
Not shown, two long pockets on either narrow side
to hold long items.

This is the placket to cover the top.
Well, it was intended to be.
But when one is working when one is tired,
mistakes are made. This one was made 3 inches short.
A new one had to be made the next day.

Completed bag, with pocket in the front.

Top of the bag.

Inside, with a total of 9 pockets.

Windowpane, Finished

Windowpane is completed, and ready to go home to it's new baby boy. It measures ~ 46x54, bunny in pocket. This quilt was difficult to photograph, the colors are so vibrant, they are throwing the camera off.

Windowpane, Squaring the Blocks

No matter how hard one tries, it still seems impossible to make perfect blocks. So the rotary cutter and square comes out, and the edges are trimmed, in preparation for the next step.

A New Quilt, Soothing in Blues and Greens

This quilt is much prettier than my camera this rainy day is showing, it is approximately 52x65 inches.
One hundred percent cotton outside, polyester batting, hand tied, with the bunny in the pocket! Pink ears, of course.
It's ready to go,  Sold! But if you like it, I can make another, in the colors you like best.

A Banner for Church

Embroidered in the center, the church is appliqued and embroidered. The date is in a frame of fabric so it can be switched out each year. The words are on fabric panels which can also be changed. The bottom has three tabs, with beaded tassles, picture to follow.

Surveying the Future of Science

The art committee has decided this sculpture does not "fit the vision" they have of the space, and have asked me to remove it, which I did promptly. The thing is, I asked the art committee a year ago if there was a way I could submit a proposal, and again a month ago, and never received a response.
