I
have been a redditor for 9+ years, it is an interesting community. A
few years ago we decided to do a SecretSanta to bring cheer in a dark
world, I was a beta tester for the experiment. We had no idea if it
would work. Would complete strangers actually send real gifts to other
complete strangers across the country? Across the world? Nice gifts?
Real gifts??
Watch Dan McComas as he explains what it's all about.
This year, I was matched with a fellow in Sweden. I know nothing of Sweden, except where it is, and that someday I'd like to go there. I have a short bio of the gentleman, what he does for a living, his videogame likes, his reading materials. Other than that, I was on my own. I ordered a thing from Amazon. A model of the car from Supernatural. Perhaps you've heard of it? I hadn't. I spent way too much for what turned out to be a Matchbox car, with chipped paint, and mis-formed doors.
I am a good gifter. I am a great SecretSanta, and this Would. Not. Do.
See the fabric in the top two pictures? That's the fabric sent to me by my SecretSanta this year.
I put it into immediate use, by deciding to make my Swedish fellow a lap quilt. I have no idea if this person would like a lap quilt, but it is, after all, Arbitrary Day. (SecretSanta on June 25, quite arbitrary, don't you think? ;-)
Quilt is finished!
